Oppression and Robbery: Courtesy of the U.S. Government

"To take from one because it is thought that his own industry and that of his father’s has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers, have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association—the guarantee to every one of a free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it."

Wisley said by Thomas Jefferson. If what he said is true, this founding father of our country, how is it that these welfare programs such as Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Unemployment, WIC, and others exsist to hamper the free market, a person's ability to operate and be successful in it, and put much burden of these programs on the successful? Why is it that crushing income taxes are forced on the wealthy while some others do not pay it at all? Welfare along with heavy income taxation are comparable to oppression, and robbery.

Welfare programs are paid for with the taxpayers tax dollar. The more of them, usually means the more taxes rise. So essentially the more money, or as Jefferson says "fruits" of a person's labor is being taxed, the more is going to someone else, who did not work for that person's "fruit." Why should a hard working person's money go to another who did not work for that money? Charity is not outlawed so...it is possible to give money to someone who did not work for it if so wished, BUT that is a choice made by the one who acquired that money. With taxation, the money is forced, by law, to be payed. Therefore no choice and therefore the government hampering the fruits of one's own labor.

Again the government impedes on the fruits of one's labor when it comes to income taxing the rich. Those who have worked hard and because of the free market have gained wealth are punished for their success by the governemnt, highest income taxes being over thirty percent for the wealthiest. These successful and wealthy people are paying so much in taxes because some are allowed to pay none at all, and the government must find a way to pay for many welfare programs. So obviously the first conclusion is to take from the rich and give to the poor...instead of cutting the programs. No where have I seen in the Constitution the right to someone else's money, and Jefferson and other founding fathers have said things to support that their should not be.

One may now say that these welfare programs help people in times of need. Well, why is it that a person who has saved intelligently their whole life, must pay taxes to help someone who has not?

Welfare does not help people, it harms them and their ability to be successful. In the book See, I told you so an account of welfare dependency distrubed me. After the riots in L.A. two decades ago, a post office building had been burned down. A few days later many people started to form a line outside the burned down building. MANY people, crying and weeping. What is it that they are waiting in line for? Welfare checks. These people have become so dependent on these checks they must hope and pray this burned building will still produce their government money and they have no idea how to get back into the free market. This is the government HARMING it people, not helping them.

Don't misunderstand me, I realize that not everyone in welfare programs are "cheating" the system or are people who deliberatley choose poorly with their money, but this still gives them no right to the fruits of another's labor. Those people can thank the government's intrusion on the free market through regulation, and hampering employer's ability to hire more because of high taxation.

Capitalsim is how our country is where it is today in advancement, and technology. Welfare and high income taxes limit the ability for the free market to help as many people as it can, and the government will continue to opress people who have become dependent on welfare unless these things are eliminated. It is the free market that has made the U.S. strong, and our republic so strong. I leave with a quote from Thomas Jefferson.

"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."

When did our government forget?

The American Dream is Dumb?

As usual, I have been deeply disturbed by a comment I heard today, which was particularly vicious towards the free market.

The statement I have concern with went as follows "I disagree with the American Dream, I don't like it." I believe the person was misguided into believing the American Dream (in it's classical sense) is something that it is not. The argument made was "How many times did your grandparents tell you something like 'If you work hard you can be president one day.'" The person who said this thought this was a fool hardy thing to say and was on the side of ridiculous. Apparently though, there are some people working hard enough because Americans still manage to elect Presidents...

Someone supported the perversion of the American Dream still by adding "Look at Ralph Nader, he works to try to get elected as president and it is not working for him." Well, Ralph could change his political stance to views that would get him elected, or he can be successful elsewhere.

The American Dream does not assert that Ralph Nader WILL be president. Or that every child drama actor WILL get to Broadway. Or that every computer genius WILL be as successful as Bill Gates. What the American Dream does secure is that if one is not successful in ONE area, there are other oppertunities to succeed with hard work. For example, Average Joe wants to be a high paid singer. Average Joe is an awful singer and no one will hire him. Average Joe can take singing lessons or he could get employed at a company. Average Joe could climb the corporate ladder and become very established at his work. He can reach success in more than one way. The free market allows this.

The OPPERTUNITY for success is not cut off with one failure. Thomas Edison did not create the tungsten filament lightbulb in one try. It is only the free market that allows the oppertunity for anyone to be anything. NOT garunteed, but allowing the oppertunity.

Also, it seems to me that public opinion has swayed to believe that only the very rich are the successful ones. Why is that? Strictly a personal opinion, if someone has four kids a wife a home and can support them all, that sounds pretty successful to me. God bless America. God bless the free market. God bless the American Dream.

Why Government Healthcare won't help you.

I become increasingly disturbed when I see how many people are willing to except lies about Government Health care, even when the failure of things like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid are right in front of their noses.

Many people in the country have come under the impression that health care is a right. Let me first explain what a right is. A RIGHT is something that cannot, again I say CANNOT be denied of you. In every country in the world where socialized medicine has taken hold there has been rationing of care. The government will have to cut spending on whatever care they determine "not needed." This is the government, not you, that is deciding what you need cared for. So if a citizen with stage 4 cancer is looking far coverage for treatment and the government has cut that coverage to decrease spending because that citizen will "die anyway", that is the government denying that care, therefore making it NOT a right if it is able to be denied.

Some may say that it doesn't matter because Health insurance is too expensive anyway. That is because of government regulation. Very cheap insurance plans don't exist because the government mandates companies have to cover certain care, even if the consumer doesn't want it in his or her plan. Also, because the government requires, by law, that even those with no money to pay for care or no insurance, must be treated. This makes hospitals and doctors use equipment and materials that they are not being payed for. This makes the hospitals raise prices to compensate for this. This means insurance companies must pay hospitals more, which in turn makes insurance more expensive.

Some still may say that they cannot receive health insurance when they have lost their job. Again, blame the government. When someone loses their job you will notice that home owner's insurance, car insurance, food, computers, clocks, radios, chairs, and other things not regulated heavily by the government are still obtainable. It is the government that punishes people who don't get their insurance through their employer. The government does this through the tax code by denying people the tax deduction for health insurance that employers receive. Federal tax incentives also contribute to the world where many get their health insurance through employers.

One other thing is that the government does not allow purchasing of health insurance outside of the state you live in. This absolutely destroys the consumer's ability to say "You charge to much, I'm taking my business elsewhere." It also stops from what some people call "the free market" or sometimes I've heard it called "Capitalism."

So to really stick it to "ordinary" Americans, support government controlled health care.
